Universal ratio of correction-to-scaling amplitudes for Xe

Research output: Contribution to journalJournal articleResearchpeer-review

The coexistence curve for Xe measured in the range 3.4×10-6-t3. 2×10-2 [where t(T-Tc)Tc] by focal-plane interference methods has been analyzed in terms of the correction-to-scaling prediction (l-v)2c= A1M|t|(1+A2M|t|+A3M|t|2+A4M|t|3) to yield the correction-to-scaling amplitudes. By combining the value of A2M with the corresponding amplitude A2- obtained from recent compressibility measurements on Xe, we arrive at the ratio A2MA2-1.5, which is somewhat above the universal ratio 0.85 predicted by renormalized perturbation theory.
