The appraisal seminar of Henriette Lyng Røder for the position as Associate Professor in Microbial Food Interactions and Quality will be held on 27 September 2024, from 14.10 at the University of Copenhagen, Thorvaldsensvej 40. A2-70.04, 1871 Frederiksberg C (3-14). The seminar is open to all employees, colleagues, friends and family of Henriette Lyng Røder.

Profile of Henriette Lyng Røder

Henriette Lyng Røder is a highly accomplished microbiologist with extensive expertise in bacterial community interactions and biofilm research. She obtained her MSc in Microbiology from the Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen, where she also completed her PhD. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the complexities of multispecies biofilms. In 2022, she was appointed as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor at the Department of Food Science, where she has utilized advanced analytical techniques to study bacterial interactions.

Henriette has gained international research experience through visiting positions at esteemed institutions such as the University of Pittsburgh in the USA and Biozentrum in Switzerland. She has demonstrated research excellence by securing competitive grants, including the Emerging Investigator Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, to establish an independent research group dedicated to making significant advancements in food microbiology.

Programme of the day

14.10-14.15:  Short welcome and introduction by the Associate Dean for Innovation and External Relations

14.15-15.00: 45 min presentation by the candidate consisting of the following:  

    • Presentation of the research conducted during the tenure track period and its relation to the state of the art (about 30 minutes)  
    • Presentation of future research visions (about 7-8 minutes)  
    • Reflections about teaching experience and presentation of visions for future teaching development (about 7-8 minutes)  

15.00 – 15.05: Short break  

15.05 – 15.25: Research questions by external opponent, Professor Lars Jelsbak

15.25 – 15.45: Research questions by external opponent, Senior lecturer Magnus Carlquist

15.45 – 16.00: Questions to teaching experience and visions by deputy head for education, Anni Bygvrå Hougaard

16.00 – 16.15: Questions regarding future ideas and visions, collaboration, international networking etc. by Head of Department and Associate Dean for Innovation and External Relations

16.15 – 16.30: Evaluation by Tenure Track appraisal-board (closed session - candidate and the audiences go to Rolighedsvej 26 ground floor)   

16.30 – 16.45: Concluding evaluation and conversation between candidate and assessment board in front of the whole audience. Presentation of final recommendation that will be forwarded to the dean.

Afterwards, there will be a reception with drinks and snacks (Rolighedsvej 26 ground floor)
