Sergii Masol

Postdoc

Sergii Masol is a postdoc at CECS. He explores the Russian approaches to international law within the framework of the EASTERNISATION research project “Power Shifts and Regionalisation of International Law”, which is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. In addition, he teaches the graduate course International Criminal Law and Procedure.
 
Previously, Sergii was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Cologne, sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He was also a visiting researcher at the University of Copenhagen and the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. Moreover, he worked as a language assistant at the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine. Earlier in his career, Sergii was a volunteer at Amnesty International and completed internships at the International Criminal Court, the European Court of Human Rights, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. 
 
Sergii obtained his doctorate in law from the European University Institute in Florence, where he also worked as a research assistant. Sergii holds a Master of Laws in International Human Rights Law from Lund University and a Bachelor of International Relations (with distinction) from the National Aviation University in Kyiv.
