In my PhD project the aim is to conceptualize the term ‘Deep Mapping’ as a literary model for thinking the complexity and limitlessness of the climate crisis. The point of departure for my research is the question of how literature can serve as a tool for mapping both the historical and mythological dimensions of landscapes, and how such a literary praxis can integrate knowledge from both the cultural and the natural history. Through analyses of in particular various forms of landscape writing from the 20th century, my project will unfold as a reflexion on how human beings relate to their natural surroundings.
