Effect of scatterer and absorber on fluorescence

It is known that the behaviour of fluorescence excitation-emission matrices (EEMs) is highly influenced by the local environment of the fluorophores. There is a recent study where they claim to have been able to model how a scattering interferent and an absorber would effect the subsequent excitation-emission matrix. In this project, we would like to investigate if their findings actually hold in the real world. The samples will contain 3-4 fluorophores with distint fluorescence spectra, 1 scatterer and 1-2 absorbers. These are to be mixed according to an experimental design, and the effect of the scatterer and absorber(s) on the EEMs will be studied by PARAFAC and visual assessment.
