Chemometrics and Analytical Technology

The section carries out research and teaching within spectroscopic quality control, process analytical technology, multivariate data analysis, chemometric algorithm development and mathematical chromatography.

The research also includes human metabolomics as a function of intake of food and medicine, foodomics (food metabolomics), bioactive substances and biomarkers in food, functional food, molecular modeling and quantitative structure activity relationships (QSAR).

Infrastructure includes state-of-the-art instruments for high-throughput" measurements of foods and other biological matrices: 600 MHz, sample jet, 500 MHz and 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and UV-VIS spectroscopy.

The infrastructure further includes a modern GC-MS platform for high-throughput" metabolomics/foodomics including a Leco Pegasus GC-TOF-MS station with a Gerstel double sample arm.
